“These are the best little lures I’ve ever used!” — Oliver Bouchard

Lures

Wigglewood LuresWigglewood lures are hand-crafted in the heritage style.  We select only locally grown wood from Vancouver Island in order to produce this value added product.  After salvaging the yellow cedar, we split and saw the rounds to produce a carvable bar stock.  Each bar produces between six to eight lures.

Do these lures work and actually catch fish?

Absolutely!  The diving and swimming action of these lures is irrersistable to game fish.  Wigglewood lures catch kokanee, cutthroat, rainbow, kamloops, brook trout, and salmon to name a few.  They have also been successful with smallmouth bass and steelhead.

Our lures come in standard and magnum sizes.  Our standard size is 1.25 inches long, and our magnums measure 2 inches long and are thicker in the body.  We also produce a 5-inch salmon plug in ten colours.

Wigglewood Lures are currently available in 14 colours — click here to view catalog.

Flies

The art of fly-tying dates back many years—often being passed from one generation to another and usually from father to son.

For those without such knowledge and experience in the family, Black Creek Fly & Tackle offers an array of hand-tied flies.  We tie both traditional and modern flies to our exacting standards. Our list of flies includes, wet flies, dry flies, saltwater/beach flies, and steelhead patterns.

For those who would like advice regarding which style to use when, we are happy to help.

Black Creek Fly & Tackle also offers fly-tying classes on Vancouver Island, just south of Campbell River—just ask for details.  On-line courses will be introduced in 2009.  Watch the newsletter for details or email your interest today and we’ll be sure to let you know when they’re available.

Fishing SackFish Sacks

Being made of 100 % burlap they not only keep fish fresh and cool with a simple dunk now and then, but they are environmentally friendly.

The secret is in their evaporation quality.

TIP:  To freshen up a well used sack that might begin to smell, just soak the sack at home in a tub of cold water with a tablespoon of borax bleach.  Then hang the sack to dry.
